The Opportunity:

This is a structured development role for someone who wants a long career in design-driven, specification-based sales — not a call-center seat and not a temporary internship.
You will spend your first six to eight months in an inside sales and product training role at our Foxboro office, learning our decorative lines in depth, supporting our showroom partners, and delivering product training. Upon successful completion of the program, you transition into an outside sales role calling on showroom consultants, kitchen and bath designers, interior designers, and architects across Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island — including the South Shore, South Coast, Cape and Islands, and the greater Providence market.
You will be given a defined book of accounts, a manager who rides with you, and manufacturer training at the factory level. What you build is yours to grow.

Development Program at-a-Glance:

Phase Timing Focus
Foundation Months 1-2 Product certification across the decorative line card; learn our CRM (Repfabric) and quote/order workflow; shadow inside sales and customer service; territory and account orientation.
Inside Sales & Training Months 3-5 Own showroom partner inquiries, quotes, order tracking, and issue resolution; deliver virtual and in-showroom product training; support new-product launches and display programs.
Field Ride-Along Months 5-8 Joint calls with the Showroom Territory Manager; lead lunch-and-learns and trainings at showrooms and A&D firms; build a written territory account plan.
Outside Sales Months 6-8+ Transition to owning assigned showroom and A&D accounts in SE Mass and RI, with a readiness review and a compensation step-up.

What You’ll Do:

Product Training & Education

  • Deliver product knowledge training on our decorative lines to showroom sales consultants, designers, and architects — in person, in showroom, and virtually.
  • Onboard new showroom staff at partner locations and run launch training courses whenever a manufacturer introduces a new product or collection.
  • Build and maintain training decks, sell sheets, spec comparisons, and quick-reference guides that make our partners faster and more confident.
  • Support lunch-and-learns, A&D spec days, and continuing-education sessions for the design community.

Customer Service & Inside Sales

  • Serve as a first point of contact for showroom partners on product questions, specifications, pricing, availability, lead times, and order status.
  • Coordinate with manufacturers on quotes, samples, display orders, returns, and warranty claims — and own the issue until it is closed.
  • Log activity, opportunities, and follow-ups in Repfabric so the territory has a clean record and an accurate pipeline.
  • Partner with our outside sales team to prepare for calls, follow up on commitments, and keep quotes moving.

Territory & Relationship Development (Field Phase)

  • Call on kitchen and bath showrooms, interior designers, and architectural firms to drive specification and selection of the brands we represent.
  • Monitor display placement and merchandising across your accounts; identify gaps, aging displays, and new placement opportunities.
  • Track activity, pipeline, and results against agreed territory goals, and report on them clearly.

What We’re Looking For:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in interior design, architecture, marketing, business, communications, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
  • Genuine interest in design, kitchen and bath products, and how buildings get built.
  • Comfortable presenting to a room: you can hold the attention of six showroom consultants for thirty minutes and answer questions on your feet.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; organized, responsive, and follow-through-oriented.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; willingness to learn CRM and quoting systems quickly.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift and transport sample cases and display materials (up to 40 lbs).

Preferred

  • Showroom, retail design, kitchen and bath, or building-products experience.
  • NKBA membership, AKBD credential, or progress toward one.
  • Familiarity with the Southeastern Massachusetts or Rhode Island design and construction market.

What Success Looks Like at Eight Months:

  • Certified on every core decorative line we represent.
  • A track record of product training delivered to showroom and A&D audiences.
  • Working relationships with the decisionmakers at our key showroom partners in SE Mass and RI.
  • A written territory plan — accounts, potential, and priorities — ready to execute as an outside salesperson.

Compensation & Benefits:

Pay range: $55,000 – $65,000 per year.

Starting pay within that range depends on relevant experience, education, and demonstrated presentation and customer service skills.

Base Salary $55,000 – $65,000 annually during the inside sales and training phase.
Performance Bonus Quarterly milestone bonus tied to product certifications completed, trainings delivered, and service metrics. Target $4,000 annually.
Field Phase Step-Up On promotion to outside sales, base salary is reviewed, and a territory commission or incentive plan is added. Target total compensation in year two: $75,000 – $85,000.
Vehicle Monthly vehicle allowance plus mileage reimbursement once the field phase begins.
Retirement 401(k) with a 50% company match on employee contributions, plus discretionary annual profit sharing.
Health & Welfare Medical, dental, and vision coverage; company-paid life and disability.
Time Off Paid vacation, sick time, and company holidays.
Development Factory training with our manufacturer partners, industry association involvement, and reimbursement for NKBA or related professional credentials.
